- Since my modem support it and i know right modem strings, under what
- conditions will i see the caller's number (and where?). Do i have to be
- in a
- "Windows Terminal" type of mode? Obviously, if i'm in a trumpet
- newsreader
- and a call comes in, i'm not going to see a caller-ID phone number.

-
- if you are in a newsreader, your modem is making your phone line busy for
- any incoming call so the above is a nonsense. To process the CID, the
- modem and the phone must both be connected to the same line and both
- on-hook.
-
- the modem must have ATS0=0, the PC must be on, and some comm terminal
- package loaded, making DTR asserted. The modem must have CID detection
- enabled by AT#CID=1 or 2. this way you get either a screen formatted
- output (user friendly interface on any terminal screen) or a raw data
- output including flags (which serves compatible s/w package to interpret
- it in whichever form/window message box).
-
- try it out. vc_lant
